Oh man- this was so nerve racking but an amazing experience. Being a basics label (predominantly) I was nervous how that would translate to the big walk. After the initial shock of it all- you know, giving up complete creative control to someone else to interpret the clothes I literally SEWED myself!- I think it panned out really well. Hope you like it. x

A very special mention regarding the O! Possum collaboration with un-fricken-believable artist extraordinaire Carla Fletcher. Thanks for collaborating with me Carla! You can see the original possum piece rendered by Ms. Fletcher in my pop-up store @ PHM. Also, thanks to Tom from TMC (have you seen these bags?? I have them in my shop- they’re hand made and really incredible) for loaning us some style for the shoot in the way of two of his one-off overnight bags.

An insect pinning exhibition by Claire Steel
The Landing @ OK OK Opening night Thursday 8th October 6-9pm

You’re invited to come and view the latest offering from creature artist and enthusiast Claire Steel..

Claire’s work is a bug and insect pinning exhibition of weird and wonderful butterflies, moths, beetles, scorpions, spiders and other majestic creatures from the miniature kingdom. Artfully presented, this show of curiosities in not only interesting but educational as natural beauties, who rest assured have died of natural causes, are immortalized by this passionate artist.

50 works of varying shapes and sizes will adorn the small walls of the Landing from the night of the 8th of October till Sunday the 8th of November. Opening night on Thursday 8th of October will be on from 6-9pm, come and enjoy some bug chocolates and cupcakes and have a drink with us to celebrate.

OK OK + Blame Killy Exhibition/ Pop-up Shop/ Party

Happy spring! What a day to celebrate. Not that we had much of a winter let’s face it but bring on Spring all the same.

So this week is fashion week – who cares right? Well I don’t but it’s an excuse to have an OK OK party, and to do it with my friends Jim and Sara fromBlame Killy, so I’m having one.

It’s a renegade exhibition/pop-up shop/Spring-Summer launch/party in the gallery area of the amazing new city venue 1000 Pound Bend of the Jerome empire.

So the deal is… Jim and I are setting up the one day only, aforementioned exhibition and pop-up shop kicking off from midday. This will culminate in a party in the evening starting around 6ish.

So come to 361 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne city (near the corner of Elizabeth Street, heading towards Queen).

On: Saturday, 5th of September.

For: Pop-up shop with OK OK gear including shop favourites Blame Killy, *new season* GRAM, Kearnsie, RetroSuperFuture and Alexandra McLean Jewellery.

Plus an OK OK fashion installation including the HANDWORK pieces from the current show at The Landing @ OK OK by Carla Grbac and Maya Grinberg. Carla will be weaving the piece ‘Colour me in’ on site on the day. Yes LIVE.

All of this opens at 12.

OR: Just come and check it all out at the party. This will be kicking off at 6pm and running to at least 11 (we think). There will be a bar set up in the gallery and tunes played by our friends to set the mood.

I really hope you can make it. It should be fun and I’m just happy to be taking OK OK out of Brunswick! Cheers to Spring and to getting out of the ‘hood.

OK OK + MDM @ Melbourne Design Market Sunday 14th of June

So.. Still recovering from the madness that was, Sunday’s MDM was truly bananas. It was like, turn up at the crack of dawn, set up in a frenzy- and no- there won’t be time for brekky- are you kidding? we’re here to shop.. But… But…! …sigh… OK! O man. Hordes and hordes of people. It simply did not stop. Like woah!

Say what? …exactly…

Sorry- I have no idea who was there. I was bound to my car spot (literally, the ’stall’ was the bounds of a single car space!) the whole time. Workin’ it.

OK OK + MDM on Melbourne Design Market
10am-5pm Sunday 14th of June

Hello friends. Just letting you know I will be doing the Melbourne Design Market on Sunday June 14th. It’s at Federation Square in the car park which is situated more or less beneath Ian Potter Gallery. Enter via Russell Street extension or Riverside Walk.

For those who’ve never been, the Melbourne Design Market showcases creative businesses of all design disciplines and is well worth checking out. There’s always something unique and wonderful to spy, fall in love with and take home. So come and support your local Melbournians and have a great day out. Oh! Of course, come and say hi, I’ll be at stall 41 next to Artisan Books and most befittingly, across the way from Beer De Luxe (beer o’clock anyone??). I will have new stuff you’ve not seen before and some items specifically on show for the event so be there to check it out. Can’t wait! Burn the date into your memory; Sunday 14th of June, 10am – 5pm.

In this installation, Elizabeth Carey Smith explores the visual language of commerce and industry in Brunswick’s streetscape; in doing so, she tells the story of a suburb in terms of its signage.

Elizabeth Carey Smith is an American graphic and typeface designer who has documented her encounter with Melbourne through a series of locally-inspired typefaces.
