Hi all,

What a year! So much has happened, not the least of which was replacing my much loved Courier New font with Futura (where have you been all my life!). &So now it’s December in 5 minutes which means that Christmas is precisely seven & a half minutes away! Are you prepared? Don’t stress, no one who has a life is. But maybe you should be thinking about getting your stuff together.. yes? Well, we’re here to help you. Don’t fret.

My compadres and I in humble Sparta Place are having a lil’ VIP shopping event next Friday the 2nd of December from 5-8pm. OK. SO our absolute favouritest model in the whole wide world is our good friend Malaan whose collab’ed with OK OK quite a few times along with the wonderful Philip Darley who manages/shoots and makes-up some of hottest young model talent in Melbs (yes, hit that link).

As is to be expected, New York, New York is calling on our Belle to come and play with them. We will be shooting with Malaan any minute now for maybe the final time (sad face) for our latest hosiery catalogue but before we can show you those pics, I thought I would show off some of the previous magic we’ve caught her in when she’s been doin’ the OK OK thing.

From time to time, we get some pretty outrageous looking Melissa shoes. I mean why not? They make them, we get them and wear them and cherish them. Such previous favourites were the Vivienne Westwood Wings..How good were they? Pretty bloody good I’d say! And the Zaha Hadid’s? Yeah, amazing. Just in at OK OK are the new keraizees of the season. I’m sure you’ve seen them in the paper, heard about them… Here they are:

Melissa I love you! This is why we stock more styles at our little shop in Sparta Place Brunswick than any other store in Australia. True story. We’re very proud of this fact! Also proud of the fact that Melissa is actually a pretty Green label. I know it seems far fetched… Mass produced plastic shoes.. Sounds a bit like an environmental nightmare doesn’t it? Well check this:

In the latest Melissa Plastic Magazine, there is an article on Page 29 “Green For Real”. In the article, Sergio Amaral explains what ‘Sustainability’ means to a company like Melissa. So what does it mean to say that sustainability “..has been guiding the initiatives at Melissa’s offices and factories for years..” ?

Well, first of all, did you know that not all Plastics are the evil nemises of the environment we believe them to be? So Melissa uses PVC. What does this mean? Well, PVC is a 100% recyclable material for one. Another misconception? That Plastics emit CO2′s, the main cause of Global warming. Well that’s wrong, plastics don’t emit Co2. The problem with plastic, as stated in the article, is the careless disposal the discarded material.

The PVC used to make Melissa shoes is considered the most environmentally friendly, mostly due to it’s lack of heavy metals in it’s formulation. The design process uses minimal energy use and the shoes themselves can be recycled and reused.

So, for a Vegan (me), Melissa is truly an ethical option. not only is it cruelty free but it’s about as sustainable as it gets… That, coupled with some pretty cutting edge design collaborations is surely a WIN!

It’s all going to happen in 2011…

So it has been almost a year since I last updated info in the news section of this site. My super savvy web and all round designer lady not only swished it up, but idiot proofed the back end so just try to stop the information now! No more messing around with HTML for this here lady..

First things first. Happy new year everyone. If it weren’t for Chinese New Year, you’d be right in thinking my greeting is a bit off the mark. It is already Feb, yes and yes, it will be June in 5minutes. True story.

The big announcement here kiddies is that work is happening at OK OK headquarters, to get the whole online store thing up and running in time for the new season. So watch this space (like literally, the space at the top of the page, Mr.tab that boasts ONLINE STORE).

Soon, oh so very soon you will be able to buy yourself a pair of OK OK socks to go with your Melissa sandals with a few quick clicks. From your couch and have it delivered FREE mind you, to your door step. I know. We rule. Yes. That is correct.

We still want to see your lovely faces in Brunswick in the real old skool shoppe though. Don’t forget how super nice we are at Sparta Place. And there’s all that great art you can look at while you visit.
